Notes: This is a full weekend reenactment event at historic Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia, PA. If overnighting we will look to setup arrangements in one of the buildings onsite inside the fort. We may be onsite on Friday evening. Event ends Sunday afternoon. Please see below for additional information.
From Event Organizers:
Hello Unit Commanders -
Thanks for your timely registration for Siege Weekend. We provisioned based on your registration - if your numbers will vary significantly please let us know.
Bunking assignments will be posted on room doors. Please check in with Olga Leake in the Arsenal when you arrive.
We will close the site gate at 8 pm on Friday night, but not lock it. If you arrive to see the gate shut this way, please let yourself in and close it behind you. Help us keep curious wanderers out of the site. The gate will be locked at 10 pm. If you know of someone planning to arrive after that time, please arrange with Olga to get a key to let your friends in.
For those of you arriving Saturday, plan to be loaded in by 9:45. We open to the public promptly at 10 and will begin the event with a flag raising and Veterans Day commemoration at 10:15. We will form a "Company of Veterans" to raise the flag, under the direction of Mike Kalichak. Please all participate regardless of which side of the battle line you will be on later.
Saturday battles at 11:30 and 3, Sunday battle at 2.
Schooner Northwind will be taking passengers on 1-hour cruises (Saturday at 11, 12:30 and 2; Sunday at 12 and 1:30.) Cruise times determined by the tide not the event schedule. If there are unsold seats at cruise times, the crew has agreed to take on event participants as their guests. If you take advantage of this great opportunity please tip the all volunteer crew generously. It is a great experience and we enjoy working with them.
Meals! Enjoy dinner Saturday night (5:30 to 7) and breakfast Sunday morning (8 to 9.)
Help us manage the trash. The City removed 8 brand new jumbo garbage cans from the site two months ago and has not replaced them in kind. This means we have limited cans in which to secure garbage. To help manage this situation they will be picking up garbage on Sunday morning. You should remove ALL TRASH from your area on Saturday night (place in available cans in corral in parking lot) so that it can be picked up Sunday morning. If we wait to remove all garbage on Sunday there will be nowhere to put it. Please remove all trash from your bunking area before departing the site on Sunday.
Public materials will be in each bunk space so that you can see what our visitors will receive. Help us keep on schedule and enjoy participating in the Scavenger Hunt. We are always looking for suggestions for special demonstrations and activities - let us know your great ideas.
We are still using Porta Pots. This situation is beyond my wildest imagination and I apologize for the inconvenience. For families bringing young children, you may use the rest room near the kitchen in the Hospital Building. We will open the Quartermaster Building to provide access to the utility sink for cooking clean up at the end of public hours on Saturday.
Thank you for keeping history alive, right where it happened. I'm looking forward seeing everyone and enjoying a great weekend.
Beth
