Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Major General John R. Pippy, adjutant general of Pennsylvania, have authorized the awarding of The Pennsylvania Cross for Valor to Major General Marquis De Lafayette, Continental Army American Revolution for Act of Valor Above the Ordinary Gallantry.
The presentation will be made during the opening ceremony of American Friends of Lafayette’s Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday, July 26 at Thornbury Farm at 1256 Thornbury Road in West Chester.
The 11 a.m. ceremony is being organized by the Lafayette Bicentennial Lafayette Committee to mark the 200th anniversary of Lafayette, an American hero in the American Revolution, return to Chadds Ford and West Chester.
